Finding a service for mental health and substance use health

This directory highlights services that are free or offered by a non-profit organization for an income-based fee. It does not include services that require a referral from a doctor or other service providers, such as psychiatry. AccessMHA can help people aged 16 and older connect with the best services for their mental health and substance use health needs.

Child and youth services

  • Children’s Mental Health Services – A variety of mental health services offered to children and families.
  • Trenton Military and Family Resource Centre – Confidential services and resources that support the well-being of military families serving at 8 Wing/CFB Trenton.
  • Youthab – A community based non-profit organization helping young people living in the Quinte area obtain and maintain safe and affordable housing, good mental health and employment.

Adult services (aged 16+)

AccessMHA simplifies the process for people 16 years or older in eastern Ontario, offering a single starting point for accessing support for mental health, substance use health and addictions concerns.

A trained professional works with you to connect you with the right services, ensuring you are placed on the correct lists to access services as quickly as possible. AccessMHA is committed to supporting you throughout your entire journey.

  • 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Hotline – Call or text 9-8-8 – Access to a trained responder to listen without judgement, provide support and understanding, and help find resources to cope, live, and thrive.
  • ConnexOntario – Free and confidential support to find services for problems with alcohol and drugs, mental illness or gambling. Information includes where the service is located, how to access the service, and how long the wait to access service may be.
  • Farmer Wellness Program – 1-866-267-6255 – Offers farmers and their families free counselling sessions with a professional.
  • Good2Talk Post-secondary Student Helpline – 1-866-925-5454 or text GOOD2TALKON to 686868 – Professional counselling for post-secondary students, available 24/7.
  • Kids Help Phone – 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868 – Professional counselling for children and youth, available 24/7.
  • Men’s Counselling Link211 – 24-hour crisis line to provide to professional counselling and support for men who are experiencing stress, relationship conflict, harmful behaviours, or personal challenges. Callers are connected to counsellors through Family Service Ontario agencies, either virtually or in-person.
  • Talking4Healing – Ontario Native Women’s Association – 1-855-554-5325 – Support for Indigenous women.
  • Telephone Aid Line Kingston – A confidential, anonymous, and non-judgmental volunteer-based support service. 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.
  • We Believe Survivors – Text 613-544-6424 or chat at WeBelieveSurvivors.ca – A secure online chat and text service that provides emotional support, information, resources, and safety planning techniques to survivors of sexual violence, regardless of gender and/or identity.
  • ConnexOntario – Free and confidential support to find services for problems with alcohol and drugs, mental illness or gambling.
  • Game Changer resources – Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) – Resources to help youth understand more about mental health and substance use, and to help caregivers and supportive adults to start conversations about these important topics.
  • National Overdose Response Service (NORS) – 1-888-688-6677 – A harm reduction hotline that provides confidential, nonjudgmental overdose prevention 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Call before using drugs to connect with someone who will help access emergency support services in the case of overdose or poisoning. Safer drug use education, mental health first aid, and referrals available.
  • Smoking Cessation Service – Health Connect Ontario – Call 811 – Support, coaching, information, and referrals to help people quit smoking. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Understanding Addiction Support Group – Addiction and Mental Health Services – KFLA – Eight online modules with worksheets designed to support those new to accessing services or who are on a waitlist for addiction treatment.
