Southeast Public Health offers Steps to Wellness, a program for pregnant and new mothers with babies up to 12 months of age, who have been feeling depressed, down, or anxious. Steps to Wellness uses components of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to target thinking errors, negative emotions, and behaviours. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focuses on the interaction of thoughts, emotions and behaviours and has been found to be beneficial in reducing symptoms of Perinatal Mood Disorders (PMD), such as postpartum depression or anxiety.

The Steps to Wellness program is a free, 9-week, online, group-based series where participants meet weekly in the virtual group setting with public health nurses to learn skills, strategies, and tools to help them manage their symptoms of depression and anxiety. The Steps to Wellness program is of benefit to mothers and their families. If you are struggling with symptoms of Perinatal Mood Disorders, you are not alone, you are not to blame, and with help you can get better.
