Infant feeding supports
Infant feeding clinic
At Southeast Public Health, we support all kinds of families in meeting their infant feeding goals. Feeding goals vary and may include exclusive breastfeeding, chestfeeding, combination feeding, or feeding your baby by bottle (pumped milk and/or formula).
If you need help with infant feeding, you can receive support during a telephone or in-person appointment at one of our public health offices or service sites. A public health nurse or lactation consultant is available to answer your questions and provide information and resources to help build your confidence and meet your feeding goals. Follow-up appointments will be offered as needed.
If you are in need of infant feeding support, please confirm your location.

Prenatal breastfeeding information sessions
Are you pregnant? Have questions about breastfeeding? Get your questions answered before your baby arrives!
These free prenatal breastfeeding information sessions will help you feel more prepared and help you to get off to a smooth start. Know where to go for support, learn important skills, and have your questions answered by a public health nurse. Exclusive breastfeeding is important for your baby’s health and development—we are here to help you achieve your goals. Bring a support person along and receive resources and tools to support your breastfeeding journey. Register today for an in-person or virtual information session.
During this session you will learn:
- Where to get support, before your baby arrives
- The benefits of immediate and uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact
- The benefits of prenatal hand expression of colostrum
- The importance of early follow up and support after your baby arrives… and more!
**In this prenatal class, we will be reviewing hand expression, an important technique for nurturing your baby. We recognize that discussions around feeding can sometimes evoke strong emotions or past experiences. Our approach is to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable. If at any point you feel triggered or uncomfortable, please feel free to step out or speak with the public health nurse privately. We encourage you to practise at your own pace, and remember that every parent’s journey is unique. Let’s work together to empower each other with knowledge and support.
