Recreational camps and overnight programs

Recreational camps

Recreational Camps are regulated by O. Reg. 503/17 (Recreational Camps) under the Health Protection and Promotion Act R.S.O. 1990, c.H.7. Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) inspect recreational camps in the Southeast Public Health region to ensure camps provide a safe and healthy environment for campers. Public Health Inspectors inspect recreational camps to assess food safety, safe water, infection control practices, sanitation, and recreational water safety.

Please contact our Environmental Health team at Southeast Public Health if you have questions or would like more information regarding recreational camps.

If you are the operator of a recreational camp, please complete an Application to Reopen a Recreational Camp form and submit your Camp Safety Plan for review at least 14 days prior to commencing operation. A Public Health Inspector will be in contact following form submission to arrange for inspection.
