Food policy councils

  • The KFL&A Food Policy Council is an independent body consisting of a diverse group of members who live or work in the Southeast Public Health area. The Council’s mandate is to work towards the KFL&A Food Charter’s purpose of creating a secure and sustainable food system for the Southeast Public Health region.
  • FoodcoreLGL is a coalition of food activists and organizations across Leeds, Grenville and Lanark, who work to take practical steps to realize the vision of the Food Charter.

Dietitian services

  • Registered dietitians are trained to provide nutrition information. Unlike a nutritionist, a registered dietitian has completed an accredited post-secondary program, supervised practical training, and written a national registration exam. Learn more about dietitians at the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Ontario residents can access free nutrition information and advice by calling 811 or using Health811’s online chat.
  • Registered dietitians are often part of family health teams. Contact your health-care provider to see if this option is available for you.
  • Ontario Health at Home can assess and determine if eligibility criteria are met for their home-based services or will help link you to other dietitian services in the community. They can be reached at 310-2222 (no area code required).
